This is a remote position with preference given to Greater Denver Area applicants.

Summary/ObjectiveΒ 
The Accounting Manager is responsible for performing and owning the day-to-day accounting and finance activities within the organization. This position is essential to ensuring the highest level of financial reporting accuracy through the maintenance of internal systems and adherence to financial reporting processes. Duties and Responsibilities

General:
  • Play an active role in upholding and advancing Concurrent HRO's company culture and commitment to customer service excellence as a member of the Leadership team.
  • Review the work of two Staff Accountants and one Tax Manager to ensure compliance with accounting policies, State and Federal Tax regulations, and State licensing requirements.
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of U.S. GAAP as applicable; ensure the financial statements are in compliance with approved accounting policies; manages the implementation of approved new accounting policies.
  • Manage PrismHR and MasterTax systems for accurate payroll tax reporting and timely payments for the company and clients.
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of processes occurring in the company and proactively recommend potential changes to accounting policy and/or processes as needed.
  • Regularly collaborate with other Leadership and teams to ensure continuity of processes and information.
  • Lead various special projects and respond to ad-hoc requests as assigned.
Month-End Close and Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations for revenue, accounts receivable, sales commissions, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes, including preparation and review of month-end checklists and related documentation.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of financial statements, providing accurate reconciliations, variance explanations, and monthly financial reports.
  • Analyze complex accounting issues during the close process, offering insights and recommendations to management.
Account Reconciliations and Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct and review weekly, monthly, and quarterly GL account and employee benefits reconciliations, ensuring accuracy across accounts.
  • Review monthly calculations, reconciliations, and payments of internal and external commissions.
  • Prepare and review monthly workers’ compensation reports, including reconciliations, rate changes, and policy payments.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve errors and inconsistencies in financial records.
Tax, Audit and Compliance:
  • Develop and maintain schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external CPA firm for annual income tax preparation, review, and reconciliation of returns.
  • Lead the annual financial audit process with external CPA firm, ensuring timely deliverables and adherence to established timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including insurance, bonding, and state-level reporting obligations.
Oversight of Payroll Tax Compliance and Reporting:
  • Oversee payroll tax reconciliation, reporting, and payments for multiple employers across 46 states, including compliance with unemployment and local tax authorities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely annual W2 reconciliation and filing.
  • Manage payroll tax amendments as required to maintain compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee the team responsible for setting up new payroll tax accounts for new clients or existing clients expanding into new states, ensuring accurate configuration in all relevant systems.
  • Supervise the tax team to ensure prompt response and resolution of all payroll tax notices received on behalf of clients, providing clear communication and effective issue resolution.
  • Review quarterly payroll tax audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Internal Controls and Data Integrity:
  • Maintain data integrity within the accounting system, ensuring uniformity and accuracy of entries.
  • Uphold segregation of duties and enforce proper accounting controls to safeguard financial integrity.
Process Improvement and Efficiency:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the month-end close and other accounting processes.
  • Recommend automation opportunities to streamline accounting functions and reduce manual workload.
Work EnvironmentΒ 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. The Accounting Manager will be primarily remote and must have a quiet workspace, stable internet connection, and the ability to work without distractions.Β Β Β

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkΒ 
This is a full-time salary/exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST.Β Β Β 
Required Education, Experience and SkillsΒ 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finanace required.Β 
  • CPA required.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience is required.Β 
  • 3+ years of payroll and payroll tax experience is required.
  • Expert Excel proficiency is required.
  • QuickBooks Online experience required.
  • PEO experience is highly preferred.
  • PrismHR experience is highly preferred.
  • Master Tax experience is highly preferred.
  • A high degree of organization, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing major projects or initiatives and high preforming teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration in a team environment.
  • Technical and operational knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Knowledgeable in navigating interactions with external auditors.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic and demanding environment by demonstrating organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, works well under pressure, highly detail oriented, self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvement.
  • Strong skills with other Microsoft Office software tools.
