Job Description:
Coppin State University is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Basic Needs Coordinator. This key role will oversee the daily operations of our resource centers (food and clothing), ensuring that students have access to essential resources to support their well-being and academic success.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the operations of Coppin Closet and President and First-Ladyβs Boutique including inventory management, distribution, and maintenance.
- Develop and implement programs to address the basic needs of students, including food insecurity and clothing assistance.
- Coordinate with campus partners, local organizations, and volunteers to enhance resource availability and support services.
- Train, supervise, and schedule student workers and volunteers to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Conduct outreach and education efforts to raise awareness of available resources and reduce the stigma associated with seeking assistance.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, usage, and student engagement, and prepare regular reports for university administration.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement and expansion.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and organization of the resource center.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years case management experience
- 2 years customer service experience
- Bachelorβs degree in social work, human services, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in program coordination, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
- Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to serving diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and problem-solving attitude.
- Experience with data collection and reporting.
- Passion for addressing issues related to food insecurity, homelessness, and basic needs.
