Responsibilities






Peraton is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The Cyber Security Engineer will provide support for the operational support, build-out, and day-to-day operational maintenance of enterprise infrastructure spanning data centers to end user compute and related enterprise core services.ย 

The candidate will be required to develop a variety of Security Authorization deliverables including: System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, Risk Assessment Reports, Privacy Impact Assessments, Annual Assessments, Contingency Plans, FIPS 199 Security Categorizations, etc. The engineer will be required to analyze processes and procedures to determine areas of possible improvement that will lead to gains in efficiency and security. Activities will include coordination of plans of actions and milestones (POA&Ms) so they are completed timely and submitted as . The candidate will consult and advise on information security issues and participate in security incident response efforts as . These activities will be conducted in the context of a fast paced and dynamic scientific computing operational unit that provides shared services broadly to various centers. The engineer will be required to work with key stakeholders to enable compliance as while providing the flexibility required to enable a robust scientific computing environment.ย

What Youโ€™ll Do:ย 

ย 

  • Support the analysis and review of information security programs and systems to ensure compliance to federal security policies.ย 
  • Develop a variety of Security Authorization deliverables including: System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, Risk Assessment Reports, Privacy Impact Assessments, Annual Assessments, Contingency Plans, FIPS 199 Security Categorizations, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), etc.ย 
  • Analyze and review processes and procedures to determine areas of possible improvement that will lead to gains in efficiency and security.ย 
  • Provide guidance on security threats, technology, standards, and practices.ย 
  • Develop, review and monitor compliance with organizational security policies.ย 
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of POA&M items.ย 
  • Proactively manage risks, and systematically resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner.ย 
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.โ€ฏย

Qualifications






Required Qualifications:โ€ฏโ€ฏย ย 

  • 12 years of work experience in IT in one or more areas of infrastructure, systems management, operations, or securityย 
  • 5+ years of technical cyber security experienceย 
  • 2+ years of experience consulting or operating IAM solutions for cloud service providers (Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform) or equivalent Microsoft Azure/Google Cloud Platform certification(s)ย 
  • Working knowledge of system and network security engineering best practices, operating systems and application auditing.ย 
  • Thorough understanding of the NIST risk management framework and related industry best practices.ย 
  • Broad background in information assurance (IA) activities to facilitate and coordinate IA activities for a project to obtain an Authorization to Operate (ATO)ย 
  • Demonstrated experience working as/with Information Security Site Managers (ISSMs) and Authorizing Officials (AOs)โ€ฏย 
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of Information Security including Risk Management Framework (RMF)โ€ฏย 
  • Demonstrated experience implementing federally mandated and locally developed computer security policies and proceduresโ€ฏย 
  • In-depth knowledge of security and compliance implications in multi-user, multi-platform, and secure distributed computing environmentsโ€ฏย 
  • Demonstrated experience writing computer security policies, security procedures, security plans, testing security controls, disaster recovery plans, configuration management plans, and other related documentationโ€ฏย 
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring staff related to IT security and certification and accreditation processesโ€ฏย 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate computer security policies and procedures at all levels both orally and in writingโ€ฏย 
  • Direct experience implementing technologies to support the continuous monitoring of required computer security controlsโ€ฏย 
  • Demonstrated successful experience working in high-pressure situations such as audits and assessmentsโ€ฏย 
  • Also requires a general knowledge of security disciplines in Physical, Program, Personnel and Computer Security.โ€ฏย
