Role Purpose

As Director of Change Realization in the Global Strategy and Operations organization, you will build out a new capability to drive organizational adoption within Gartner Consulting to help us realize our transformation agenda. Gartner Consulting extends the impact of Gartner insights for our largest technology clients. Consulting a $400M business that is rapidly growing, and our goal is to grow to $1Bn+ in global revenues.

For our most important transformation initiatives, we need to better manage the people side of change on our most critical transformational initiatives by developing a clear strategy, methodology, approach, and tools.

Creating a new capability will help us:

  • Deliver long-term double-digit growth through repeatable best practices around change, methods, and tools,

  • Maintain a portfolio view of changes to better understand change impact and saturation across different audiences, and

  • Improve change governance across our business through clear accountabilities over change results.  

As Director of Change Realization, you will also help guide our organization through our transformational journey by organizing and executing our change initiatives across our largest, most complex initiatives.  Strong change on each engagement will help us:

  • Engage leaders build a guiding coalition,

  • Define a compelling story of our transformation,

  • Cascade accountability throughout the organization,

  • Plan and leading change interventions with impact, and make sure changes remain.

Major Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

Build a Change Management Capability

  • As a member of the Strategic Programs team, develop overall approach for how Gartner Consulting will manage change across our full portfolio of initiatives.

  • Create change management methodology, tools and templates to support our agile programs.

  • Build support for the new change management capability across Consulting Business.

  • Educate and train leaders in our consulting business on the value proposition of effective change and how to effectively sponsor and lead change across our consulting business.

  • Develop measures to show change management results and successes.

Build Executive Leadership and Commitment

  • Partner with our global Executive Leadership Team to articulate the transformation agenda into a core messaging platform that communicates how we will create value to our business, customers and employees. 

  • Host leadership session to align leaders to a common cause.

  • Engage Executive leaders to plan for active and visible sponsorship; Prepare individual leaders to lead the change.

Plan Change

  • Work with executives to develop an overall vision and strategy for change.

  • Identify a list of key stakeholders, their goals and expectations, levels of commitment, and ability to influence the change process.

  • Define the impact of change on all employees across the organization.

  • Formulate a change management strategy and plan by:

  • Identifying the desired outcome for the change.

  • Assessing the organization’s capacity to change.

  • Defining requirements for leadership and governance to make change successful.

  • Defining a change journey for different stakeholder groups, and

  • Determining the right interventions to guide the stakeholders through their journey.

Manage Change

  • Along with Executive Leaders within GS&O and in close partnership with training from our Learning and Development Teams, the Director of Change Management will own the end-to-end execution of change management on our transformational programs.

  • Work across leadership and project teams to execute on interventions in the sponsorship and change plans.

  • Measure change progress of stakeholders, track and monitor the progress of the change as well as stakeholders’ position on the change curve and identify and execute corrective actions.

  • Conduct business readiness assessments to determine the organization’s readiness for deployment. Track progress and identify and execute corrective interventions as needed.

  • Support project deployment activities and conduct a post-deployment review to ensure that users and other stakeholders are supported in achieving the project’s objectives and are adopting the change.

  • Bachelor’s required, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

  • Change management certification preferred.

  • Strong transformational change leadership and project management experience.

  • Consultative and influence skills.

  • 10-15 years of progressive business experience, preferably in a Consulting organization.

  • Knowledge and experience in working with senior-level executives

  • Strong gravitas and strategic thinking skills, prioritization, and problem solving ability.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills.

  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/MS

  • Outstanding project management skills (projects involving internal and external stakeholders) with an ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 116,000 USD - 164,220 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
