Responsibilities






The East Regional Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical and administrative leadership to nurse managers in the East Region, to ensure compliance with nursing practice, policies and procedures for nursing services in residential programs. The Regional DON collaborates with Medical Directors, Executive Directors and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure the provision of high-quality care and effective management of clinical and operational services, including ensuring that site specific targets related to patient safety, census, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement are met.

Essential Duties:

    • Works collaboratively with the CNO, Medical Directors, Executive Directors, and Nurse Managers to establish and implement patient care practices that are evidence based and patient centered.
    • Develops/updates policies, procedures, and practice standards for the nursing department to ensure compliance with Newport Healthcare, Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, state licensing, and for the delivery of safe and effective patient care
    • Responsible for monitoring regions TJC standards and ensures compliance.
    • Assists in recruiting and onboarding nurse leaders. Provides ongoing mentoring and leadership development opportunities for nurse leaders. Participates in Nurse Manager/Supervisor annual reviews. Provides coverage for nurse managers when out on leave.
    • Develops and oversees the nursing onboarding program to ensure that all educational and regulatory requirements are met.
    • Initiates and/or participates in performance improvement initiatives. Creates strategies and tactics for continual improvement based on data. Uses evidenced-based practice and performance improvement methodologies to guide clinical decision-making in the change management processes
    • Oversees chart audit program to ensure documentation compliance for the nursing department.
    • Oversight of patient safety events by reviewing all medication errors and patient safety incident reports. Identifies trends in patient safety events and collaborates with the treatment team to develop mitigating practices to prevent recurrence. Participates in RCAs as required.Oversight of Workplace Violence (WPV) prevention programs to ensure safety of both staff and patients
    • Participates in opening new facilities. Responsible for ensuring standards are met including safe medication administration, identification and mitigation of ligature risks, and emergency response workflows. Sets new sites up with Dominion, Quest, and ordering of supplies as needed.
    • Implements strategies such as shared governance and intentional rounding to enhance retention and reduce nursing turnover
    • Oversight of monitoring expenditures in areas of nursing supplies, equipment, and materials to ensure maintenance of best practices and efficiencies and supervise the delivery of cost-effective patient care through effective resource management.
    • Oversight of the influenza program. Ensures nursing staff are up to date on the most recent infection control guidelines. Monitors and tracks regions IC data each quarter. Reports quarterly findings to CNO, Operations and Compliance.
    • Gathers data for Daisy recognition program and presents award when appropriate.








Qualifications






  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in nursing from an accredited school required.
  • Masters preferred.
  • Licensed and registered to practice nursing. Licensed in multiple states preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive nursing management experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Must reside on the East Coast

$125,000ย  -ย  $148,500ย  /ย  year
