The Opportunity

About the Role & Consensus:

Consensus is the most diverse gathering of the cryptocurrency, blockchain, and Web3 communities, produced by the award-winning crypto media outlet CoinDesk. The Consensus event now heads to Hong Kong & Toronto, setting the stage for the most important conversations in crypto and Web3.Β 

We are seeking an Events Programming Lead with deep knowledge of the crypto and/or traditional finance communities to help curate and book conference speakers and sessions for Consensus 2025 in Toronto, May 14-16, 2025. The is a contract role for a 6 month project supporting the Events Programming team by identifying new themes, topics, and industry leaders to approach for speaking engagements and sessions for the event. You will craft adaptable outreach strategies to attract prospective speakers and solidify engagements. You will foster strong partnerships with speakers and their teams that will deepen our understanding of their business needs so we can offer a higher value proposition.

Note: Candidates that currently reside in the US or Canada will only be considered for this opportunity.

What You’ll Do:Β 

  • Identify and implement outreach strategies to secure renowned speakers for our events.

  • Develop and maintain strong connections with speakers to enhance collaboration.

  • Assist with the speaker onboarding process, providing messaging and registration support for a smooth experience.

  • Understand each speaker's business needs to create personalized offerings that resonate.

  • Create compelling pitches aimed at attracting high-profile speakers.

  • Dedicate time to connect with speakers & companies to address concerns, remediate issues and strengthen partnerships.Β 

  • Curate sessions and ideate with speakers on specific topics

  • Work closely with CoinDesk Editorial to develop and streamline booking supportΒ 

  • Assist the Sales team to facilitate deal flow and enhance speaker engagement.

  • Understand the sales pipeline to expedite high-potential speaking opportunities where appropriate

What You Bring:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in event design and/or event programming

  • Experience with B2B corporate events tailored towards the finance, crypto, and/or blockchain industries is highly desirable

  • Highly collaborative, superb organizational skills, effective communicator and tech savvy.Β 

  • Demonstrated success owning and managing large-scale projects

  • Strong writing & copyediting skills with a keen attention to detail

  • Ability to multitask and creatively problem solve under tight deadlines and in a live-event environment

  • Comfortable with multiple technology and data management systems: event platforms, Airtable, Excel, Google Drive, etc.
