Empassion clients are payers and risk-bearing entities and we work with community palliative and hospice partners to deliver superior outcomes. We are live today across 44 states and growing rapidly.
Empassion is a hybrid remote/in-person company, with headquarters in NYC. We prioritize asynchronous work and communication but are quick to get on a call, Zoom, or even flight if the situation requires higher fidelity discussion. You will have the opportunity to spend time with colleagues in person, including an all-team offsite 1-2x per year (location varies).
We are seeking a dynamic, detail oriented individual with a passion for process development who is comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
You will play a key role in developing and enhancing processes for monthly financial reviews, billing and collecting from our customers, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. This role has a unique opportunity to join a small team with the potential to make a large, lasting impact on our accounting structure, processes and the overall financial health of the organization.
The Finance & Accounting Analyst will report directly to our FP&A Manager with 6+ years of experience navigating start-ups and the complexity of the healthcare industry.
What you will bring:
- 1-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, strategy, or other related field
- Interest or experience in healthcare strongly preferred
- Ability to build processes from scratch, learn from mistakes and ask questions
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve by thinking outside of the box to arrive at the best solution possible
- Posses a bias for action and enthusiasm for fast iteration
- Experience working cross functionally across teams with open and clear communication
- Ability to pivot to new projects and leave failed experiments behind

- Motivation, perseverance and confidence to solve problems, take initiative and succeed
- Experience working in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
What success looks like:
- Maintain general ledger including but not limited to, revenue recognition, expense processing, bill payments, bank reconciliations, payroll, etc.
- Monthly financial and variance reporting to executive team, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Maintain end-to-end billing and payment process, ensuring our customers are paid accurately and on time
- Maintain relationships and support work with outside CPA firm (tax preparation, potential audit support, etc.)
- Support requests and solve problems, including day to day issues by understanding and anticipating the needs of the business
- Collaborate with internal teams including Data, Network, Clinical, Finance, Contracting and Compliance
- Build credibility and trusting relationships with Empassion team
$60,000 - $70,000 a year
Salary depends on experience. Range reflects base compensation.
Remote vs. In person
Though Empassion is a fully remote company, we do have programming and events which require us to be in person, including team and company-wide meetings.Β Β
