Job Description Summary

Provides analysis, design, delivery and administration of learning solutions within the organization. Develops and supports the learning needs for large scale projects. Responsible for the coordination of all learning programs. Designs and develops course curriculum. Leads monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of learning programs for the learner, business unit and the organization. Works closely with the team to ensure programs align and contribute to the business and strategic goals. Designs materials and resources to support strategic projects and programs. Serves as lead support for learning technology and assists with the maintenance of all online course content.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to determine training needs and prioritize training initiatives for life underwriters.
  • Plan, organize, and assist with the development and implementation of continuing education programs for beginner, intermediate, and advanced underwriting skillsets.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation training classes
  • Coach and provide feedback on delivery of training.
  • Mentor team members on the design and development of curriculum, resources and job aids that support the success of learning programs.
  • Support strategic initiatives; attend meetings and support project work in new products and system projects.Β  Meet regularly with the leaders of strategic projects to assess involvement and impact, and identify gaps or items that need to be addressed throughout the process. Identify resource needs and work with managers to assign resources and ensure team members are meeting project deliverables.
  • Continual process improvement and partnership with team members to ensure consistency and leverage knowledge and experience to ensure a quality product that adds value to the organization.
  • Mentor team members on refinement of skills.
  • Lead the administration and coordination of learning programs.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of learning programs and recommend improvement to training material and programs.
  • Research and analyze soft skills competencies and develop/deliver curriculum utilizing a variety of learning methods.
  • Continue to grow and develop as a learning professional by contributing to the success of the team. This will be done by demonstrating and sharing best learning practices with business groups and team members, and by acting as a role model in the learning professional field.
  • Lead team members supporting company projects; communicate with senior leadership on status, timelines, impacts, challenges, impacts and recommendations.
  • Research and implement appropriate tools and best practices into learning solutions.
  • Develop and update documentation/curriculum and deliver the learning program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven years of learning and development experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.Β 
  • Excellent customer service and motivational skills with the ability to work on a team and independently.Β 
  • Advanced documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate creative and innovative solutions in a learning environment.Β 
  • Proven project management skills that include research capabilities and effective prioritization with the ability to set a clear path for a project with little or no direction.Β 
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate adult learning principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MS Office Applications.Β 

Preferred Qualifications

  • FALU designation
  • 10+ years of Underwriting Experience
  • Experience in Training and Development of Underwriters of varying skillsets
  • Experience working in change management
  • Training experience in insurance or other related business background.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, learning technology tools and learning management systems.Β 
  • Strong technical aptitude, and willingness to learn new technology.

The salary for this position generally ranges between $84,000 - $115,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 10% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
