Description

We create high performance storage systems/software based on Linux, and our customers do really interesting projects with the products we buildβ€”things like major filmmaking, special effects, and professional music production.

We are a small company with a big footprint and phenomenal worldwide reputation. We've increased our sales every year for more than a decade, and we're always looking to add another great person to our team. The person we hire will join an eclectic group of colleagues (all of whom love their jobs) and get to work with a wide variety of high-end technical stuff.

We're looking for someone who is a bit of a "Jack of all trades," technically speaking, who will happily contribute their many talents to help us improve our products. Like the rest of our team, we'll only bring on someone with a full-time great attitude, who’s intensely hard working, an enthusiastic contributor and problem solver, and a fun person to be around. (Great sense of humor required.) Ideally, you have some programming backgroundβ€”you won't be constantly developing, but you may occasionally need those skills.

Requirements

Experience in areas like these will help you come up to speed on our team (we don't necessarily expect you to have all of these things, but the more the merrier, of course):

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ethernet and TCP/IP fundamentals, notably for communication protocols such as SMB, FTP, SSH, and more
  • Familiarity with various file systems such as EXT, NTFS, APFS, as well as the tools used to configure these systems
  • Comfort at the command line using scripting languages like Bash, Python, and Powershell
  • Ability to set up and test environments involving things like Active Directory/LDAP, SQL, DNS, LVM, and many more TLAs
  • Server hardwareβ€”you probably outta know how to select components and build from the ground up, but not a deal breaker
  • Some experience with AWS, S3, EC2, Azure, or similar cloud services would be useful
  • Bonus points if you’re the type to use something like Arch Linux as your daily driver on a system you built, which is part of a larger homelab that’s somehow never quite completed
  • Background in macOS and/or video editing applications like Adobe Premiere Pro would be icing on the cake!

We don't care if you have a pedigree or not. We want people who want to be great at what they do, truly enjoy working with the kinds of things we work with, and want to be completely immersed in helping to create excellent products/experiences for our customers. If you have 10 years experience, great; if you have 0 years professional experience but you're someone who happened to quietly figure all this stuff out because it's a passion of yours, also great.

Benefits

Some of what we offer to you:

  • PTO
  • Matching 401k
  • Health insurance
  • Weekly pay period
  • A spot on a fantastic team that loves what they do
  • The ability to have your contributions recognized in a big way
  • A spirited, growth-oriented culture that results in an average tenure of 7+ years

If you have carefully read through this posting and made it to here, then you're doing great so far. Want to increase your chances of being interviewed? If so, send us not only your resume, but also write a fantastic cover letter telling us about yourself and why our posting captured your attention. We look forward to hearing from you! If you'd rather not take the time to do that, then you probably haven't made it this far anyway, and this almost certainly isn't the gig for you.
