The Payroll Manager for the United States will play a pivotal role in leading our North American operations team. This role demands a true payroll veteran with deep expertise in US payroll systems, compliance, and best practices. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in building and expanding our regional team, driving operational excellence, and ensuring top-tier service delivery. Additionally, this role involves significant client-facing responsibilities, including overseeing payroll implementations and consulting on complex client inquiries.ย 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Payroll Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for the United States, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement payroll strategies that align with company goals and North American regulations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for all US payroll matters, offering guidance to the team and other departments.ย 

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing payroll team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.ย 

Client Engagement and Implementation

  • Lead client-facing payroll implementations, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to client requirements.
  • Consult on complex payroll-related client inquiries, providing expert solutions and advice.
  • Build strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership.ย 

Operational Excellence

  • Review and refine payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.ย 

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with changes in US payroll legislation and industry trends.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance payroll services, focusing on automation and standardization.
  • Lead special projects aimed at expanding and optimizing payroll operations in North America.ย 


Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • 10+ years of comprehensive payroll experience in the United States.
  • Proven leadership and management experience (3+ years preferred).
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency with payroll software systems; experience with [specific software] is a plus.ย

Our payroll operations are structured with centralized teams handling core processing tasks, while local country teams provide expert oversight. The centralized teams are responsible for executing standardized payroll processes, ensuring consistency and efficiency across regions. Local teams, including this role, focus on client-facing activities such as leading implementations, configuring payroll engines, reviewing and signing off on final payrolls, and addressing client inquiries. This collaborative approach ensures compliance, operational excellence, and superior client service. While the local teams provide guidance and support, the centralized teams operate independently within a well-defined framework, fostering a cohesive and efficient working environment.ย
