We are looking for a highly skilled Principal AI/ML Engineer with a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building and fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), developing traditional machine learning models, and designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in driving our AI/ML initiatives, working with real-life industry data, and contributing to cutting-edge projects that enhance our technological capabilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and traditional machine learning models.
- Develop and implement RAG solutions to enhance the retrieval and generation of information.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify AI/ML opportunities and integrate solutions into products and services.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and promoting best practices in AI/ML.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML and apply them to solve complex problems.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality code standards are maintained.
- Optimize and fine-tune models for performance, scalability, and accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver impactful AI/ML solutions.
Requirements
Necessary Skills and Experience
- Advanced degree in a STEM field or 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in building and fine-tuning large language models, as well as traditional machine learning models.
- Extensive experience working with deep learning models using real-life ("industry") data.
- Proficient in designing and building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
- Knowledge of deep learning architectures (CNN, RNN, Transformers)
- Excellent proficiency in Python programming and expertise in one or more deep learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
- Expertise in deep learning architectures such as CNNs, RNNs, and Transformers.
- Skilled in designing and implementing data storage solutions, including embeddings, and using vector and graph databases.
- Strong background in software engineering with a focus on AI/ML applications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- The ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance post-start date.
- U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and platforms (such as Kubernetes and Helm) for deploying AI/ML solutions.
- Knowledge of data engineering and experience with big data technologies.
- Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision applications.
