The Role


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and manage scalable, high-performance infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline processes for provisioning, monitoring, and managing systems and applications
  • Take ownership of critical services, working cross-functionally to implement infrastructure improvements and optimize deployment processes
  • Implement and enforce best practices for system reliability, availability, and scalability, aiming to achieve high uptime and quality of service (QoS) for internal and external users
  • Use industry-standard practices to continuously identify opportunities to improve service resiliency and reliability
  • Investigate and determine root causes for production incidents, implementing fixes and writing detailed RCA reports to drive long-term improvements
  • Define and manage service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) to measure and report on system performance and quality
  • Leverage cloud resources (AWS, GCP, Azure) to optimize costs and system efficiency while ensuring robust data security
  • Collaborate with external vendors and manage relationships with remote teams to optimize workflow and technology solutions
  • Document procedures, configurations, and workflows to improve team knowledge and support smooth hand-offs during incident management



Requirements


  • 5+ years in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering, with strong experience in system design, automation, and deployment
  • 2+ years of experience in scripting or coding with languages like Python, Bash, Ruby, or similar, with a focus on automation and infrastructure management
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a technical field
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication, documentation, and technical writing skills
  • Proven experience in project management, leading projects from inception through delivery, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure), and experience managing cloud-based infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, ecommerce experience a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux command-line and version control (Git)
  • Knowledgeable in data security, governance, and best practices in cloud environments
  • Mentorship experience, guiding junior engineers in best practices, coding, and systems design
  • Understanding of both cloud and physical networking, with familiarity at a CLI level (Fortinet, Cisco)

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)


  • Expertise with GCP, Azure, and AWS environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure management
  • Solid experience integrating multi-vendor IT systems using APIs and managing seamless system interactions
  • Strong database management skills and proficiency with SQL, MySQL, Postgres, and cloud databases (BigQuery, Redshift)
  • Excellent understanding of Linux and Windows in hosted and hybrid environments including Active directory
  • Proficient in web technologies (HTML, CSS, Google Analytics, WordPress) with eCommerce experience (Magento, Shopify) being a plus
  • Proficient in Python, Bash, Ruby, or JavaScript for automation and infrastructure management
  • Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing solutions, with the ability to support and maintain data workflows
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Domo, Tableau, Looker) to integrate data insights into infrastructure metrics
  • Familiar with CRM systems like Salesforce or HubSpot and experience integrating them within system infrastructure
  • Accomplished in CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Skilled in cybersecurity practices with experience in threat detection, vulnerability assessment, incident response, and applying security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) to ensure data protection and compliance in cloud and on-premises environments
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to lead technical discussions and present insights to executive stakeholders
