Position Summary: Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic equipment, hydraulics, controls, and computers used in fracturing operations. Responsibilities include commissioning, training, performing tests, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, technical writing, and repairs on mechanical and electronic equipment both at the yard and in the field, in accordance with all company standard operating procedures and EH&S guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee implementation of technically challenging projects while ensuring equipment is set up, tested, and understood fully.
  • Maintain presence in both field and office environments while creating an atmosphere that invites suggestions and feedback from other employees, and managers.
  • Ensure all district representatives are aware of how the various systems are employed to specific unit applications.
  • Maintain open communications with the Managers & Technicians at the various districts to ensure proper standards in repairs, upgrades, and techniques, are being applied to the equipment, as well as report any deficiencies found.
  • Investigate new technology which may be used to improve equipment and help in maintaining technological advantage.
  • Assist with district operations to apply new technologies or to overcome reoccurring problems.
  • Train personnel in the use of the new equipment they may be working with/on.
  • Cross-train individuals within the various respected districts to maintain a strong core of knowledge.
  • Suggest improvements or changes for better utilization and operation of equipment or raise concerns about functionality or improvements required.
  • Perform Audits on Technical Service Bulletins to ensure equipment uniformity.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new technologies.
  • Strive to maintain an environment that produces qualified and trained personnel.
  • Assist as required in the design and commissioning of new equipment while suggesting and implementing new operation methods with new technologies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Educational and Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent/technical training diploma or certificate in electronics recommended.
  • Minimum of five (5) years work-related skill, knowledge, and hands-on experience or vocational training.
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience as a Lead/Manager.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, electronic control systems, QA-QC, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence to effectively communicate and present information to coworkers, customers, or members of the management team.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to perform component troubleshooting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Extensive travel may be required on short notice for a week or more at a time.
  • Must possess ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; climb up and down stairs.
  • Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; kneeling; pushing or pulling; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to walk for long distances, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb or balance in order to reach high places.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision color, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must possess good hearing as needed for work and safety compliance. Noise level could be moderate to very loud.
  • Able to wear common FRC protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • Activities may involve being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Normal physical strength & fitness to handle conditions consistent with fracturing operations.
  • Most work schedules will be performed traveling to and working at various field locations within the service territory as required.
  • Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Occasionally may drive for three to four hours or more at one time.
  • Exposure to potential electrical shock exists for this position.
  • Exposure to hazardous or toxic material may occur.
