Job Description Summary

Responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of underwriting applications through thorough testing and validation processes. They would work closely with various stakeholders, including development teams, business analysts, and project managers, to understand requirements and ensure that the development meets the specified criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with underwriting project team and related stakeholders to gather requirements, provide feedback, and ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Prepares and distributes release notes to inform stakeholders about new features, bug fixes, and other updates.
  • Coordinates between development, QA, and business teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develops and executes test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure comprehensive coverage of all functionalities.
  • Identifies, documents, and tracks defects to resolution.
  • Creates detailed test reports and documentation to provide insights into the testing process and outcomes.
  • Analyzes data to ensure accuracy and alignment with the traditional underwriting experience.
  • Assists and mentors team members as needed.
  • Assists with training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a business field or equivalent experience
  • Three years of life or health underwriting experience
  • Two years of underwriting experience within Transamerica or two years of experience working on an enhanced underwriting project
  • Understanding of the enhanced underwriting user interface
  • Knowledge of industry products
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multiple business groups
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment to deliver a high functioning decision engine
  • Time-management skills
  • Willingness to continue education to stay current in the insurance sector
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • FALU designation or working towards completion of designationย 
  • FLMI designation or working towards completion of designationย 
  • Significant experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related field.

Working Conditions

  • Office or hybrid office/remote environment
  • Occasional travel for vendor and team meetings

Compensationย

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $75-96K. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.ย ย

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for a 10% Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.ย
