Description

As a Data Scientist II, you will join a dynamic team that leverages data to drive critical business decisions, with a special focus on forecasting and price optimization systems. We are seeking someone with strong experience in building predictive models and developing pricing strategies, a background in Self Storage, Multi-Family Housing, Airlines, or Hotels is highly desirable.Β Β

Your responsibilities will include understanding business problems, analyzing data, developing machine learning models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize pricing and forecasting strategies. Principal Job Duties:Β 

  • Forecasting and Price Optimization: Develop, implement, and maintain forecasting and pricing models, applying best practices in predictive analytics.Β 

  • Data Exploration and Analysis: Extract data from our data warehouse, conduct exploratory data analyses, work with the reporting team to create automated dashboards, and communicate insights effectively.Β 

  • Strategic Data Mapping: Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions, with a focus on pricing strategy and forecasting accuracy.Β 

  • EDA and Feature Engineering: Collect and analyze relevant data to support model development. Create features that enhance model performance and business insights.Β 

  • Model Development: Build, evaluate, and fine-tune machine learning models. Utilize techniques to optimize model performance, especially in time-series forecasting and price recommendation.Β 

  • Pipeline Ownership: Manage data processing, analytic, and ML pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliable execution. Write clean, modular, and reusable code.Β 

  • A/B Testing: Set up, execute, and analyze A/B tests. Interpret results and make strategic recommendations for pricing and product offerings.Β 

  • Collaboration and Communication: Contribute to a positive work environment with a constructive attitude. Communicate effectively with data colleagues and other departments.Β

Must Have:Β 

  • Forecasting Expertise: Demonstrated experience with predictive modeling, forecasting, and price recommendation systems.Β 

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with pricing strategies in industries like Self Storage, Mult-Family Housing, Airlines, or Hotels is highly preferred.Β 

  • Technical Skills: Fluent in SQL and Python.Β 

  • Data Handling: Proficient with pandas and sklearn.Β 

  • Modeling: Experience in developing, evaluating, and refining machine learning models, particularly time-series forecasting models.Β 

  • Visualization Tools: Familiarity with PowerBI or Tableau.Β 

  • Statistical Analysis: Understanding of A/B testing and statistical methods.Β 

  • Version Control: Experience with GIT.Β 

  • Personal Attributes: Positive attitude, hard-working, receptive to feedback, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.Β

Nice to Have:Β 

  • Code Quality: Experience writing modular, production-ready code.Β Β 

  • Big Data Tools: Familiarity with Databricks and PySpark.Β Β 

  • GIS Experience: Knowledge of GIS, especially the ArcGIS Python API.Β

Education and ExperienceΒ Β 

  • Degree: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.Β Β 

  • Experience: 2-6 years of relevant experience.Β
