Overview






The Director of Procurement is a new role within symplr. This position will lead efforts for developing, implementing, and managing procurement strategies aligned with the symplr’s goals and objectives. The Director of Procurement will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and agreements, negotiating contracts, and identifying and negotiating cost-saving opportunities. Additionally, this position will oversee the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining quality standards. This role presents an opportunity for expansion, with the potential to grow and lead a dedicated team.Β 









Duties & Responsibilities






  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical approaches to symplr’s procurement and sourcing processesΒ 
  • Establish and document procurement policies and procedures to enhance organizational value and efficiencyΒ 
  • Lead various tasks, including requirements gathering, sourcing strategies, cost analysis, contract negotiation, price negotiation, and supplier managementΒ 
  • Manage vendor performance and ensure accountabilityΒ 
  • Manage vendor agreement termination and renewal cyclesΒ Β 
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of symplr’s supplier relationships and procurement processesΒ 
  • Utilize industry knowledge to develop procurement strategies in collaboration with business teamsΒ 
  • Communicate procurement business plans to implement short, intermediate, and long-term goalsΒ 
  • Review and analyze commercial contract terms, identifying potential risks or liabilitiesΒ 
  • Expertly negotiate competitive contracts to optimize cost savings and favorable termsΒ 
  • Utilize spending visibility and supplier behavior data to inform negotiation strategiesΒ 
  • Proactively manage supplier relationships through market research, performance reviews, and issue resolutionΒ 
  • Contribute to the development of procurement policies and programs, focusing on compliance and risk managementΒ 
  • Serve as a resource for procurement-related inquiries and provide training and support to team members and departmentsΒ 
  • Collaborate with business partners to enhance understanding and adoption of procurement policies and processesΒ 
  • Develop processes to track procurement results, including savings, supplier quality, and cash flow improvementΒ 
  • Establish detailed project plans to track execution performance, including regular reporting to senior management re cost savings, negotiation outcomes, vendor relationship statuses, etcΒ 
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities within the procurement teamΒ 








Skills Required






  • Demonstrated ability to reduce costs significantly through effective negotiation strategiesΒ 
  • Demonstrated ability to review, redline, and negotiate vendor agreements, including knowledge of legal/contractual issues and the ability to work with in-house counsel on applicable legal issues, as appropriateΒ Β Β 
  • Previous experience in the field with demonstrable management experienceΒ 
  • Assertive with strong communication skillsΒ 
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct othersΒ Β 
  • Exemplary multitasking and organizational skillsΒ 
  • Strategic planning abilities around process design and implementation and the ability to operate with minimal guidanceΒ 
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce costs significantly through effective negotiation strategiesΒ 
  • Expertise in modernizing procurement operations and transitioning between software vendorsΒ 
  • Strong skills in process mapping, instrumentation, and system setup, with a customer-centric approach to iterating procurement processes based on feedbackΒ 
  • Proven track record in managing complex negotiations and projectsΒ 
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and tasks effectively, make decisions and solve problems under pressureΒ 
  • Demonstrates strong presentation skills suited for executive audiencesΒ

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field preferredΒ 
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management,Β Β 
  • Experience in project management, contract management, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation and dispute resolution preferredΒ 
  • Excellent knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier regulatory requirements, and market trendsΒ 
  • Experienced in evaluating and interpreting commercial business termsΒ 
  • Familiarity with tools and processes used to conduct financial data modeling, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, CLM system, Power BIΒ 
  • This position is a β€œwork from home” position, so you need the ability to work remotely with up to 10% travel as needed
