Economics Research Associate

Republic Crypto is a highly specialized team that sits within the Republic ecosystem, supporting the bold builders and investors working to accelerate the growth of web3. At its core, Republic Crypto is a web3 advisory -- composed of world-class strategists who guide crypto projects from seed to liquidity. We also facilitate broad-spectrum tokenization, power global token offerings, operate an enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure platform, and offer digital asset management.

This role lives within the Republic Crypto Blockchain Infrastructure Team who is charged with provisioning and operationally managing physical and virtual infrastructure that executes blockchain node software.

We seek to provide a globally distributed and resilient infrastructure that guarantees both performance and uptime to a level that aligns with aspirations of the broader Republic Crypto team - Global Leaders.

Republic is looking for an Economics Research Associate to join the Republic Crypto Advisory Service team to help support client-facing research, token design and implementation. Having advised 80+ projects in taking their token design from zero to one, the Republic Crypto Econ Team is looking for a motivated and driven individual to contribute to the formulation of innovative economic models for our startup projects and make a lasting impact on forming the economic foundation of their token economies. 

• Work closely with the economics leadership to research, dissect and critique competing economic models in the industry 
• Participate in the development and creation of innovative theoretical, financial, and visual models of network, protocol, and game economies
• Perform deep analytical market research to form key assumptions used within web3 companies’ token and financial models  
• Attend and participate in advisory meetings with founders of leading web3 startups, tracking their needs and driving timelines for deliverable execution
• Report regularly to enterprises regarding education in Web 3 topics, focused mainly in economics and the deliverables of the economics team
• Perform data analytics in relation to token utility testing, financial simulation, and iteration on hypothesis testing
• Drive research initiatives regarding innovative web3 economics models and contributing to the creation and publishing of thought leadership pieces

• Strong Research and Communication Skills – Strong ability to perform research thoroughly under tight deadlines. As you’ll be expected to present your research results, you should be able to dissect complex web3 protocol economics concepts and effectively articulate your research in simple and easy to digest ways 
• Passion and Persistent Curiosity for Web3
• General Judgment about Web3 Projects –  You have pondered on the future of web3 and can evaluate projects based on those philosophies. You can talk intelligently about the pros and cons of projects and can speak to their tokenomics designs. It will be a huge plus if you’ve dreamed up novel token designs yourself that you can share
• You Should be a Wizard with these Tools – You’ll be working intimately with Google sheets, Google slides, and organizational tools like Notion and Miro to help solve problems for our portcos. Experience working with data analytics tools such as running queries with Dune Analytics is a big plus 
• Can-do attitude with Strong Work Ethics – You’ll be working with ambiguity and it’ll be important for you to proactively look for solutions to problems that have not been solved before. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is important 
• Expected Relevant Work Experience – 1-2 years work experience or relevant internships in web3 organizations, tech, consulting, finance, or equivalent experience. Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business or related fields, or demonstrated track record of building, analyzing, and broad understanding of economics and financial concepts. Startup founding experience is a plus.

A qualified candidate can expect a base salary of $100,000.00-$120,000.00. A standard offer from Republic includes base compensation, equity options, and a highly competitive benefits and perks package. Offers are determined by a number of factors including (but not limited to) the applicant's experience, geographic location, skills, certifications, as well as internal equity among our team.
