Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a highly qualified Junior Software Engineer to develop advanced algorithms for the Intelligence and Defense communities. The engineer will join a collaborative team of engineers and scientists developing physics-based modeling and simulation software.

Junior Software Engineer Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will actively be interested in applying math/statistics/engineering concepts to solve multi-disciplinary problems. The candidate should be familiar with improving/optimizing/tuning existing algorithms as well as developing new algorithms from scratch. This will include software design, software development, and debugging / issue resolution. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on full-stack applications, focusing on the areas that interest them. The candidate should demonstrate a hands-on approach to problem-solving and must be willing to participate in the evaluation of algorithm and system performance actively.

Required Junior Software Engineer Qualifications:
US Citizenship (Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information)
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field along with 0-2 years of relevant work experience OR MS degree OR PhD
Experience with at least one modern software development ecosystem (Python, Java, C++, JavaScript) and interest in learning others
Team player with excellent communication skills
Junior Software Engineer Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Prior/existing security clearance
Strong mathematical foundation and algorithm development skills
Ability and desire to quickly learn new domains
Experience with one of the following and interest in learning another: web frameworks (i.e. Django), front-end development (i.e. React), cloud technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes), and/or native M&S development
Experience working on Intelligence and DoD programs
