This role will also be heavily involved in onboarding new payroll clients. This is a w-2 position and requires you to sign a non-compete agreement. Most of the work will be from home, although we have in-person team meetings occasionally in the Salt Lake area. (This job ad is posted as "hybrid" to cut down on the number of spam applicants we receive - we do want someone who resides in the state of Utah, preferably in the greater Salt Lake area.) A cover letter is REQUIRED for consideration for this position. This helps us get to know you.Β
Qualifications
- Daytime availability for meetings and client calls. Even though you can do some of the work whenever you want, you must have availability during regular business hours in order to communicate with your clients, meet deadlines, and participate in team meetings and training.
- At least two years of payroll experience in a small business environment, including processing payroll transactions, communicating with tax authorities, filling out payroll tax returns, and/or handling benefit deductions, contributions, and payments.
- Thorough understanding of general payroll principles in the context of small business accounting.
- Excellent communication skills, including through email, phone, video chat, and other online media; be able to respond to messages within one business day.
- Self-motivated, able to work effectively under deadlines without much supervision, excellent follow-through.
- Have your own computer with a number pad, headset, and webcam.
- Type at least 60 WPM, not afraid of data entry (sometimes it gets tedious, but we do our best to mix it up with more interesting work).
- Generally tech savvy on computers, Windows, Microsoft Office, and internet; able to learn new software.
