About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior Linux and Windows Engineer.Β  As a Senior Linux Engineer at DMI, your role is to provide and manage a wide range of activities, including the architecture, planning, implementation, design, capacity management, and operational support for the Linux Virtual and Physical infrastructure for an on-premises application support contract for a government customer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities will include overseeing and executing system-based projects, writing scripts to automate manual processes, creating system documentation & diagrams. Provide system administration and configuration of specialized mission applications and software
  • Daily tasks: Monitor, Maintain and troubleshoot issues with Linux and Windows based Operating System
  • At least 50% advanced experienceΒ in Linux and 50% experience in Windows
  • Experience in troubleshooting Apache, IIS, IP Tables, Linux and Windows Firewalls,Β 
  • Experience in troubleshooting Network related issues such as service reachability or connectivity
  • Experience in certificates and GPO
  • Participates in Change Board, and Technical Review meetingsΒ 
  • Implements Change Requests based off customer requestΒ 
  • Manage a clustered environment of an on-premise system
  • Collaborate with Operations Systems Support, Network Infrastructure, Security Infrastructure, Project teams, IT, Operations, and Product teams. Activities include but are not limited to Change, Incident, Problem, and Risk Management.
  • Own and drive the resolution of highly complex issues during regular business hours and off-hour escalations or maintenance activities
  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
  • Managing, coordinating, and implementing software upgrades, patches, hotfixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
  • Creating and modifying scripts or applications to perform tasks

  • BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ yrs. of advanced experience as a Linux and Windows Engineer
  • Demonstrable expert level of Linux administration.Β 
  • In-depth knowledge of RedHat Linux.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in Linux systems preferably Centos / Redhat
  • Demonstrable experience deploying custom and COTS solutions in an enterprise environment.Β 
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL and/or MariaDB
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.Β 
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Role requires proficiency in:
    • Windows Server based OS troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation techniques
    • Apache/NodeJS/Nginx/IIS
    • Salt
    • Ordering, replacing, expiring, and troubleshooting of SSL certifications
    • Ansible/Jenkins
    • Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and network concepts
    • Scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or compatible languages
  • Role requires familiarity with:
    • NSX
    • Load Balancing Technologies
    • This position provides 24x7 coverage with weekly on call rotation.
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
