About the Job
We are a rapidly growing mental health startup dedicated to making mental health more accessible to students across the country. Our platform provides both group and individual-based virtual counseling to students, partnering with colleges and districts nationwide.

Having already served numerous educational institutions, we have also garnered support from leading institutional venture capitalists, including early investors in companies like Twilio, Carta, Coinbase, Shippo, and Lyft.

We’re looking for a passionate and innovative software engineer who is eager to write code and scale products that make a difference in the world. We need a full-time engineer to help build our product and contribute to our culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop our product from end to end, participating in the entire development lifecycle, including product definition, scoping, planning, code review, testing, and deployment.
  • Understand the needs of the industry and our users, and find creative ways to solve complex problems as part of a small but powerful team.
  • Hire, onboard, empower, and inspire our engineering team. Align projects with each team member’s strengths and goals to ensure their growth matches our product's growth.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have at least 6 years of software development experience in companies of various sizes.
  • Are regarded as a subject-matter expert and technical leader by your peers in prior roles.
  • Can contribute to discussions on user interfaces, API design, database schemas, system and software architecture, security, tooling, and automation.
  • Have made decisions on tech debt and understand when and how to address it to balance the needs of the business and the engineering team.
  • Care deeply about your company’s product and mission, work hard to understand customer needs, and deliver value quickly.
  • Enjoy working cross-functionally within product development and across the wider organization.

Technical Requirements:

  • Expert-level familiarity with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Expertise in React (Vue and Svelte are also acceptable), NextJS, and Server-Side Rendering (SSR).
  • Significant experience with consuming, building, and optimizing GraphQL APIs in production environments using Go.
  • Proficiency with relational databases, SQL query optimization, and managing ORMs.
  • Experience with cloud computing on AWS or GCP, including serverless and container technologies.
  • Knowledge of event-driven systems, asynchronous tasks, and queuing technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desired Personal Attributes:

  • Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative attitude.
  • Openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback, with high attention to detail and a sense of quality.

Bonus Points if You:

  • Have experience with mobile app development on iOS or Android.
  • Know how to automate end-to-end testing of UIs and APIs.
  • Have experience building software in regulated environments.

Personal Attributes:

  • Are excited to build something from the ground up in a fast-paced environment where changing requirements and priorities are constant.
  • Know how to balance striving for perfection with the need to ship products.
  • Are data-driven, ensuring new ideas stem from user experience and utilization.
  • Have excellent communication skills and can effectively collaborate in a fully remote environment.
  • Are energized by the prospect of building technology that enables society to more easily and proactively care for their mental health.

What We Offer:
