About the Opportunity






DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior SQL DBA to join us. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Be part of SQL DBA team supporting environment encompassing 2500+ databases.   Primary skillsets involve performance monitoring, database structure mods, and backups/recoveries.  Storage management is also very important.  This is a production DBA role not a development DBA role.  Intermediate level experience in the items below is expected.

 

SQL Skillsets listed in order of importance are as follows:

 

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills.  Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.  Daily interaction with customer and multiple data center staff.   This is done in person, over the phone, and via email.   Will have to carry mobile devices and provide support off hours (nights, weekends) 
  2. Experience with SQL Server SQL 2016, SQL 2017, SQL 2019 RDMS servers 
  3. Experience supporting SQL, MySQL in Windows environment 
  4. Experience supporting MySQL, PostgreSQL in Linux environment 
  5. Ability to monitor and troubleshoot database performance 
  6. Ability to modify database structures 
  7. Ability to develop backup and recovery procedures 
  8. Ability to coordinate allocation of storage and forecast storage usage 
  9. Ability to perform software upgrades and patching 
  10. Ability to design database architecture 
  11. Intermediate level experience with deployments and support of Amazon Web Services (AWS) services and understanding of private and public cloud concepts (A really nice to have) 
  12. Intermediate level experience with deployments and support of AZURE CLOUD Services and understanding of private and public cloud concepts (A really nice to have) 
  13. Design, create and implement new database environments including high availability, replication setups and clustering
  14. Participate in after-hours on-call duties; Regular shift and on-call (nights and weekend) on a rotational basis








Qualifications






Education and Years of Experience:  

 

  • 7+ years of related professional experience.

Required and Desired Skills/Certifications: 

 

  • Database monitoring, integration, replication, notification, analysis, tuning, problem resolution, reporting and production support 
  • Perform SQL server software upgrades; service packs and versions including testing and evaluation of patching strategies 
  • Coordinate with functional DBA's on database operations, hardware architecture, and security 
  • Create primary database storage structures, database objects, migration scripts to modify structures and objects 
  • Design efficient database architecture and maintain performance and tuning 
  • Optimize database performance, security, and user access 
  • Coordinate allocation of storage and forecasting space requirements 
  • Identify long running single queries 
  • Schedule, automate, execute and monitor job and system performance 
  • Resolve connectivity issues 
  • Perform capacity planning 
  • Modify database structures 
  • Provide database application support.  Schema changes in prod, testing, staging, instances, etc
  • Serve as liaison to vender technical support desks 
  • Develop backup and recovery procedures 
  • Establish security roles and database access rights and controls 
  • Provide technical and functional support 24x7
