Impact

As our Staff Software Engineer you will play a crucial role in securing Shipt’s applications and assisting engineering teams in implementing cyber security best practices. Every day you will work on a team of 10-12 engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain mission-critical software that prioritizes security, quality, and reliability using Golang, Terraform, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Javascript, and more. You will develop and deploy secure, scalable, and high performance Identity Access Management solutions, integrating with various applications and services. This will include migrating to Auth0 from our homegrown solution.

• You have strong software development experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, and distributed systems with a proactive approach to software security and reliability.

• You have owned and maintained mission - critical software.

• You have a strong desire to immerse yourself in identity access security and inspire the engineering organization.

• You know how to design and interact with complex persisted data models.  

• You know how to explain REST principles and design APIs that adhere to them.  

• You are proficient in identifying and optimizing poorly performing code or database queries.  

• You are passionate about continual learning and mastering new skills.

• You have excellent communication skills and are able to simplify complex ideas.

• You enjoy mentoring and learning from other engineers.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay Range:

$110,421-$220,842

All other locations:

$92,036-$184,071
