Part-time Computer Basics Instructor (Microsoft 365) 

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Computer Basics instructors for classes taught in Pittsburgh, PA. 

About us: 

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry. 

Who we’re looking for: 

• Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings.
• Teachers who are looking to empower workers through industry skills education.

Responsibilities: 

• Plan lessons and activities that facilitate students’ acquisition of basic and advanced computer skills, particularly with regard to navigating Microsoft 365 applications.
• Teach course content using a student-centered teaching approach.
• Maintain and submit records of attendance.
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
• Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available.

Qualifications: 

• Professional degree or certification in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline, preferred.
• Prior experience as a computer teacher.
• Passion for fostering computer literacy skills in adult learners.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data

COVID-19 Considerations 

• Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption.
• Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization.

Classes Offered 

• Weekdays, beginning in January 2025
• Saturdays possible.

Compensation:   

• $50 per teaching hour
• Paid preparation time
• Paid in-house training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
