We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You will design, develop, and optimise engaging online games and applications. As part of our dynamic startup environment, this role requires creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for gaming. You will play a key role in championing best backend practices within a cross-functional team.
Design and deliver MVPs: Deliver various online poker games and applications to help recreational players improve their skills.
Scale to production: Develop MVPs into full-scale, production-ready applications accessible to players worldwide.
Enhance operations: Introduce advanced operational capabilities to meet performance standards (SLAs).
Cloud technologies: Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Distributed systems and microservices:
Expertise in building distributed systems using microservices and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Experience with observability tools to monitor and optimise performance.
Databases:
Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
Strong skills in database optimisation, schema design, and migrations.
DevOps and CI/CD:
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, TeamCity).
Familiarity with containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Security: Understanding of secure coding practices.
Node.js ecosystem: Strong experience with Node.js, including Next.js.
Programming languages: Proficiency in at least three programming languages, ideally including a functional programming language.
TypeScript and JavaScript: Advanced expertise in both.
Frontend experience: Ideally skilled in React and Tailwind CSS.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast-paced startup and R&D environments.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to team members.
Leadership: Advocate for and promote best engineering practices.
